#MakFormula1: NEWSFLASH OF PREVIOUS WEEK

Lotus managed to complete the maximum 100 kilometre distance allowed on the last of its two Formula 1 'promotional' days with its new E22 at Jerez last week. It completed its running without any major problems, with the Renault power unit making progress following its recent problems in Jerez test session.

Former Citroen and Peugeot motorsport boss Olivier Quesnel could become the new team principal at the Lotus F1 team.

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner is confident there are no major problems with this season's car despite its below-par performance during the first pre-season testing in Jerez last month, but think these cars are so complicated that even small problems can cause big failures.

Formula 1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone does not believe that the case where he faces bribery and incitement charges related to a $45 million payment made to German banker Gerhard Gribkowsky will actually go to trial.

McLaren is supplying a standard LCD steering wheel display to fellow formula one teams in 2014. The new display could be seen fitted to cars including the Mercedes and Ferrari at Jerez recently. Use of the multi-function display, however, featuring the gear-shift warning lights and graphical data for the drivers, is not mandatory.
